BMF Binding Checkup — Anytime, Anywhere

Your bindings have been through it — storm days, spring slush, van life, and questionable parking-lot burritos. Whether you’re gearing up for the season or winding it down, your BMFs deserve a little love. A few minutes of care now means smooth turns and fewer surprises later.

THE BMF BINDING CHECKLIST

Tighten those Binding Screws

Binding screws loosen over time when you are out there making ripping tele turns!  Check those binding screws ideally before each outing.

Inspect Those Springs

Cracks, corrosion, or weird bends? No bueno. Springs are the unsung heroes of your setup — check them before they check out.

  • Main Springs live in the tubes at the back of your bindings. Unscrew the colored spring adjusters, and the springs should slide right out.

  • Torsion Springs hide under the Toe Cage Covers, wrapped around the Main Pivot. Pop the covers off and take a peek.

If you see rust, cracks, or deformation, it’s time for a refresh.

Lube ’Em Up

With those Main Springs out, give them a light coat of Binding Butter (or any low-temp grease).
It keeps everything sliding smooth and extends spring life.

Just remember: a little goes a long way — we’re lubricating, not deep-frying.

Slide That Rear Case

While the springs are out, slide the Rear Case (the part the tubes move through) forward and back.
It should glide smoothly — no grinding, sticking, or resistance.

If it feels tight or sticky, give us a shout. We’ll help you troubleshoot or get parts moving like new.

Check Your Spring Plugs

Each Main Spring should have a Spring Plug on the front end — that’s the little guy that hits the pin inside the tube.
If yours are cracked, missing, or looking rough, grab a replacement set.

Pro Tip: New spring kits already include fresh plugs.

Toe Cage Inspection

The Toe Cage takes a beating all season. Look for cracks, stress marks, or excessive play.
Catching wear now beats discovering it halfway down a spicy couloir in June corn.

Not sure what you’re seeing? Snap a pic and send it our way — we’re happy to help.

THE BOMBER LIFETIME GUARANTEE

All BMF bindings (2022/23 and later) come with the Bomber Lifetime Guarantee — the first and only lifetime warranty on any ski binding, telemark or alpine.

If there’s a manufacturer defect, we’ll take care of it. Forever.

Springs, however, are mortal. They’re covered for 3 years or 3 million vertical feet, whichever comes first. After that, they’ve earned retirement.

Loose binding screws are not covered under warranty.  Each skier needs to make sure their binding screws are tight.  Torque spec for the binding screws are 8-10 ft lbs.

  • Before your first day on snow

  • Mid-season after a few big dumps

  • Post-season before storage

Clean, lubed gear = happy turns.
Happy turns = happy knees.
