Spring Maintenance Checklist
It’s that time of year again—your skis are sunburned, your van smells like old socks, and your bindings are begging for a little TLC.
Before you stash your gear or chase corn into summer, give your bindings a once-over to keep things dialed.
🔧 OFF-SEASON CHECKLIST
🔍 Inspect those springs
Cracks, corrosion, weird bends? No bueno. Springs do heroic work all season—check them before they surprise you mid-run.
-
Main Springs live in the tubes at the back of the bindings. Unscrew the spring adjusters (colored screws at the back), and the springs should slide right out.
-
Torsion Springs are under the Toe Cage Covers, around the Main Pivot. Pop the covers off and peek inside.
🛢️ Lube ‘em up
Once you’ve got those Main Springs out, slap on some Binding Butter or low-temp grease to keep them sliding smooth and extend their lifespan.
🔄 Slide that Rear Case
With the springs out, slide the Rear Case (the piece the spring tubes move through) forward and back. If this is tough to slide, give us a shout.
🧩 Check your Spring Plugs
Make sure there’s a Spring Plug on the front end of each Main Spring (the end that hits the pin). If they’re toast and you’re outside the warranty period, grab a replacement set here (BTW if you grab new springs, spring plugs are included):

👀 Toe Cage Area Check
Take a close look at the Toe Cage for any cracks, stress marks, or weird play. This area takes a beating—better to catch something now than halfway down a chute in June corn.
Need help identifying a part or not sure what you’re seeing? Shoot us a message—we’re here to help.
🛡️ WARRANTY, EXPLAINED
Our BMF bindings (starting with 2022/23 production) come with the Bomber Lifetime Guarantee—the first and only lifetime warranty on any ski binding, telemark or alpine. That means if there’s a manufacturer defect, we’ll take care of it. Forever.
Note that springs are not covered for life. There’s just no way around it—springs will eventually wear out. We cover them for 3 years or 3 million vertical feet, whichever comes first.
So, if your springs don’t look right, and you’re within your warranty period, don’t hesitate to let us know and we’ll get you a new set, pronto.
